Evening Party Guide
SET UP
Depending on the ease and logistics of loading (i.e. stairs, proximity to vehicles etc) setting up for my full equipment option can take up to an hour. As soon as I can have access to the room I will start loading in my equipment. Sometimes speeches or food over run and I’m totally used to that and happy to wait until you’re ready but please bear in mind I will still need the same amount of time to complete my set up and sound check.
FIRST DANCE
A live rendition of your first dance song is included in my evening party option if you would like me to sing it for you. I also know how special the original version can be sometimes so I can play it through my Spotify account and speakers for you instead if you would prefer.
I like to start by asking your guests to gather around (usually straight after the cake cut) and then introducing you to the dance floor by your new married name. If you have a groomsman or MC to do that for an extra personal touch instead, they are more than welcome to use my mic.
SONGS
Once you have performed your first dance, I will go straight into my first set while I have everyone on the dance floor. I have a standard few songs I start with that I know work and then I will gauge the audience as I go.
It’s really helpful for me to know your favourites or any songs that were big on the hen or stag that will keep everyone on the dance floor (see my sample party list here) If you have any requests that aren’t on my list, there’s still a chance I may know them and can get the track for you but if not, I can pop it on the playlist for in between sets.
Equally, its great to know any songs or artists you don't like or don’t want me to play so I can make sure to steer clear of them.
If you have booked me with a sax player, we will have rehearsed a set list that maximises having the sax player. This means we may be slightly more limited on the song choices and on-the-night requests but rest assured, the sax players I use are all incredible musicians and can usually play anything.
VIBE
Every singer loves to belt out a ballad but my evening party option is dance floor bangers only (unless its the very last song in which case Simply The Best or Angels by Robbie Williams are usually fail safes) Once the music is pumping and the lights are going, the vibe is pure party!
TIMINGS
My evening party sets are roughly two one-hours (usually a bit more) but I much prefer to go with the flow of the night rather than stick to this too rigidly. For example, if timings over ran a bit and evening food is coming out half an hour into my first set, I would much prefer to take a break there and let everyone eat the expensive food than to leave you with an empty dance floor. I will then add that time onto the second set.
It’s also similar with beautiful sunny days… we don’t get many in the UK so people sometimes trickle back outside after the first dance to make the most of it. Again, I’d prefer your dance floor to be as full as possible all evening so I would suggest a break and a longer second set once it’s getting darker.
I will obviously keep checking in with you and the venue co-ordinators about this on the day.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you have at any time by email or Instagram DM, or we can arrange a call if you prefer.
